Canada has had 8 mass shooting over a 20 year period...... the US had 7 in less than a week, let that sink in a bit considering we have the largest unprotected border in the world, and the only thing that separates us is the difference in our gun laws and an imaginary line on a map.
They can't, they have to pass background checks first, even in Florida (but not in private sales). But obviously that only works if they're good background checks. This guy definitely shouldn't have passed.

I hate it when all those 2nd amendment idiots run around saying their assault rifles are protected by the law!!! Back, when it was written, guns were 3 foot long, 20 pound heavy, muskets that could shoot maybe 3 times a minute at sub-sonic speeds and mostly not even were you were aiming. Now they are light, easily movable high-tech affordable killing machines firing 45 deadly high velocity bullets per minutes with reloading times of 3 seconds compared to 20 seconds back then... that is not the same and propably not what they expected when they wrote that law!!
The Founders were not idiots...They were able to know that advancements in technology would take place in the future. And the second amendment was written for the purpose of defending against tyrannical government, which would require the most high powered of machinery.
I swear, why do people only think it's one or the other, either guns or terrorism? Both are the problem, but people continue to argue about which cause is worse. Nobody is productive if we keep fighting.
1. The gun he used was not an AR15.
2. An AR15 is not an assault rifle. An assault rifle is capable of fully automatic or burst fire. It may look like one but it does not function like one.
3. "Assault weapons" as you call them were banned before in the assault weapons ban. As you would expect, it did nothing to curb gun violence. Not to mention that they make up a tiny percentage of gun deaths.
4. The club was a gun free zone, yet the shooter disobeyed this rule. Almost as if criminals don't obey laws. You learn something new every day, huh?
6. A single concealed carry owner in that club could've saved many lives. Too bad it was a gun free zone.
7. Notice how so many shootings are taking place in gun free zones? hmm. They tried to shoot up a place in Texas and got shot dead just feet from their vehicle.
"Semi-automatic assault rifle" hahahahaha. Wow, the ignorance. By definition, assault rifles need to be fully automatic. I'm not discouraging her, just her writers.

Today, the NRA is literally the NRA's worst enemy. They're doing more to promote gun control in America than every anti-gun group combined. And it's solely because they've taken on the mantle of defending stupidity and ignorance.
The war on drugs failed, the criminal drug market is alive and well despite it being illegal. If you try to ban guns, it will do nothing, there are too many in circulation, and criminals will find ways to get what they need. Also, educate yourself on mass shootings. I assume you are getting your statistics from that ridiculous Vox article stating that there have been around 23 mass shootings a month in the U.S since Sandy Hook, when that is absolutely absurd.
+Julian Silva My point exactly, criminalizing drugs will fail just like the war on drugs and prohibition did. It will prevent normal citizens from being able to arm themselves for protection, but will not deter criminals from killing people. Simple as that.

What we really need is a balance. Too much gun control and terrorist switch to bombing. Too many guns on the street, and same thing. Its probably a better thing these cowards can use guns because if they couldn't then they will get creative, like explosives.
